Moro Ojomo, defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, celebrated his team’s Super Bowl triumph on Saturday by proudly displaying the Nigerian flag.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Ojomo moved to the United States at the age of eight when his family settled in Santa Clarita, California, following his mother’s employment opportunity in the IT sector.

His father, a pastor, later established a church in California. The family eventually relocated to Katy, Texas, seeking a fresh start.

Ojomo’s journey to the NFL is a testament to his resilience and dedication.

He played college football at the University of Texas, where he appeared in 50 games and made 30 starts over five years.

His consistent performance earned him recognition, including a second-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press in 2022.

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Ojomo, providing him the platform to showcase his talents on football’s biggest stage.

During the Super Bowl, Ojomo contributed two tackles, playing a vital role in the Eagles’ defence.

Following the victory, he took to Instagram, sharing an image of himself with the Nigerian flag and the caption, “Best in the world.”

Ojomo’s celebration resonated with many, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who congratulated him on his achievement.

The governor’s message highlighted the pride felt by Nigerians worldwide, emphasising Ojomo’s role as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in Nigeria.
