Relief has swept through Sabon-Wuse community in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State following the safe recovery of Hadiza Mahmud, the 18-year-old girl earlier declared missing.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed on Friday that Hadiza was found in Madalla, Suleja Local Government Area, after she was allegedly abandoned by her abductors and left wandering in the community.
In a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, the police disclosed that the teenager, who reportedly went missing on January 20, 2026, was found on January 23, 2026, at about 10am.
According to the police, a good Samaritan spotted the victim in Madalla and promptly took her to a nearby police station, where the incident was reported.
“The victim who got missing on 20/1/26 from Sabon-Wuse, in Tafa LGA was found today 23/1/26 at about 10am in Madalla where she was abandoned and wandering around,” Abiodun stated.
The police added that Hadiza was subsequently taken to a medical facility for attention before she was reunited with her family.
Abiodun noted that investigations into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are ongoing, while appreciating members of the public for their support and concern.
