The Lagos State Police Command has officially upgraded the case of a missing Lagos State University (LASU) graduate to suspected murder, following new investigative findings. The development comes amid rising concerns from students, who had planned a protest demanding justice.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public of an intensified investigation, stressing that efforts are now focused on locating the victim’s body and uncovering the circumstances surrounding his death. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served, with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) now handling the case for a more comprehensive probe.
So far, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime, identified as individuals who received funds from the victim’s account. They include:
- Whepetoji Sunday, a pastor, who received ₦70,000.
- Sherrif Adebayo, a church member, who received ₦300,000.
- Omolara Ajisomo, arrested for aiding her children—Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo—who each received ₦300,000 before fleeing to Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend five more fleeing suspects.
In response to student grievances, Jimoh emphasized that the investigation remains free of political interference and will be conducted with the utmost fairness. He urged students, the victim’s family, and the public to remain calm while the police work diligently to resolve the case.
