Relief swept through the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday after the Nigeria Police Force confirmed that Abuja-based lawyer, Linda Ameh, who was earlier declared missing, has been found alive and has since reported to the Maitama Police Station to assist investigators.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command disclosed in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, that Ameh personally visited the police station after concerns over her disappearance sparked anxiety among colleagues, family members and members of the public.
According to the police, the legal practitioner is currently providing useful information to investigators to aid efforts aimed at tracking down and arresting those behind the incident.
“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms. Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on 6th May 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident,” the statement read.
The Command added that investigations were ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
Police authorities, however, did not disclose where Ameh was found or the exact nature of the incident, citing ongoing investigations.
The development comes days after alarm was raised over the lawyer’s sudden disappearance, prompting widespread concern within legal and civil society circles in Abuja.
