Road safety officials and security agencies are battling with a situation on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as suspected miscreants pulled Dangote trucks across both sides of the highway.

A traffic alert from TRACE urged motorists from Lagos to go through Iperu to Saapade, while those from Ibadan are implored to go through Saapade to link Iperu and then join the highway, while TRACE, FRSC and the Police resolve the issue involved and normalise traffic flow.

The FRSC has also issued a traffic advisory on the situation.

Here’s the statement from the FRSC: “TRAFFIC ADVISORY BY FRSC ON THE LAGOS IBADAN EXPRESS WAY ON DIVERSION OF TRAFFIC AROUND OGERE DUE TO PROTEST BY SECTION OF TANKERS AND TRAILERS DRIVERS. Date Sunday 15 July 2018. As at 0853hrs traffic has been diverted on the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway around Ogere close to Allege Petrol Station before the Ogere old toll gate. This is as a result of protests by sections of Dangote and NUPENG PTD drivers that led to blockage of the corridor The FRSC is working together with sister security and emergency agencies as well as the leadership of the transport unions and community leaders to restore normalcy. Meanwhile alternative routes have been created for travellers coming from Ibadan who are going to Lagos to drive pass OgunMakin towards Ogere and divert at IPara- Bridge, to connect through Ode to Area Command at Sagamu and then join the Benin- Sagamu Expressway and turn towards the Sagamu Interchange and connect back towards Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while all Lagos traffic proceeding to Ibadan are to negotiate at the Sagamu Interchange where they can connect Iperu , Ode REMO, ISARA towards Ibadan. FRSC personnel and sister traffic agencies are strategically deployed to manage the situation. The FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander Clement Oladele has advised motorists to drive cautiously and obey instructions from traffic and emergency agencies to minimise traffic discomforts till the situation normalises.
