Activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of Methodist Theological Institute, Sagamu, Ogun State, were rounded off with an induction/award service, yesterday, at the institute’s chapel.
The service was conducted by the prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Kalu Uche, assisted by other clerics, including archbishops and bishops.
The highpoint of the service was the induction of 13 notable ministers and lay members of the church, as well as two ecumenical friends, into the institute’s maiden Wall of Fame.
Over 50 other individuals were also conferred with awards of honour for their contributions to the development of the institute and the church.
Those inducted into the Wall of Fame include, Prelate Uche, former prelates,His Eminence Sunday Mbang and His Eminence Sunday Ola Makinde, retired archbishops Ayo Ladigbolu and Michael Kehinde Stephen.
Others are, business mogul, Sir Kensington Adebutu; founder of Chams, Sir Demola Aladekomo; founder of Yinka Oba Group, Dame Olayinka Obaleye; wife of Benue State deputy governor, Justice Mary Abounu; businesswoman and cleric, Very Rev. Magdalene Boyo and Deaconess Adetoun Olubi.
Those inducted posthumously include, founder of Leadway Assurance Plc, Sir Hassan Odukale and elder statesman, Sir Olaniwun Ajayi.
The two ecumenical friends that were inducted are, a former first lady of Oyo State, Dr Florence Ajimobi and founder of Love of Christ Generation C&S Church, Rev Mother Esther Ajayi.
