May Yul-Edochie, popularly known as Queen May and estranged wife of Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has issued a cease-and-desist notice to her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, and U.S.-based Yinka Omolola Theisen, the former fiancée of Linc Edochie, over alleged cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and online defamation.
Through her legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, Queen May alleged that both individuals published damaging content about her across social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and X.
She claimed the posts had harmed her reputation and business interests.
In letters addressed separately to Ugwuonye and Theisen, her lawyers demanded the immediate cessation of such publications, the withdrawal of existing posts, a public apology, and retractions on all platforms where the statements were made.
The legal team further demanded financial compensation of N1 billion from Ugwuonye and N500 million from Theisen.
Ugwuonye, her lawyers alleged, acted unprofessionally during his time as her counsel, mishandling confidential information and aggravating the harm caused to her.
The letter to Theisen accused her of amplifying harmful narratives online and encouraging others to circulate them.
Both letters set a 48-hour deadline for compliance, warning that failure to do so would force Queen May to commence civil and criminal proceedings.
“The publications complained of are malicious, injurious, and unacceptable. Our client has suffered severe and irreparable harm as a result, and she will not stand by and allow this misconduct to continue,” part of the letter stated.
In response, Theisen issued a public statement on Instagram, warning May Edochie to stop targeting her.
She alleged that a group of women linked to May had written petitions to her employers and even targeted her family.
“You attacked my kids, shared my number… May Yul-Edochie, enough is enough. Leave me alone!!!!” Theisen wrote, insisting she had endured harassment for months and vowing to defend herself.
Queen May’s legal team maintained that their client’s actions are aimed at defending her rights, protecting her privacy, and safeguarding her professional standing from further harm.
