Former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Femi
Bamisile, has urged civil servants to use the July 14 governorship
election to revolt against Governor Ayodele Fayose over alleged shabby
treatment they are getting from government.

Bamisile, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, said it was the highest point of wickedness for a government to be
owing the workers, who are living on lean wages for eight months as being experienced in Ekiti.

In his congratulatory message to Ekiti workers commemorating the May
Day celebration, Bamisile said the labour must take their destiny in
their own hands in the impending governorship election, by voting out
the candidate presented by Governor Fayose.

He said it was quite distasteful and appalling for a governor,
superintending over a financially challenged state like Ekiti to
place high premium on ferrying of prostitutes to the government house
on the account of the state, when workers and pensioners are silently
being killed as a result of unpaid wages.
He enjoined the workers in the state, especially the teachers to impress it on their delegates come May 5, 2018 to pick him for his party’s ticket, in order to ensure a prosperous future for them and their family.

The former speaker promised to initiate programmes like car and
housing loans as well as local and international training for
workers, if given the opportunity to serve.

Bamisile said Ekiti “that has the highest life expectancy in the
country has declined in ranking, and the state has now become a
place where workers have been converted to beggars just because of financial profligacy of a governor.

“Ekiti workers have no choice than to reject the PDP candidate in the
coming election, because Fayose has failed the people

“As we speak today, pensioners and local government workers are owed
nine months salary arrears while the core civil servants and teachers
were owed five months. This is not only wicked, but killing and
frightening.

“It is not that Ekiti was that poor but we have a governor who has no
milk of kindness in him. At a time when workers were languishing in
poverty, Governor Fayose was building N16 billion worth of flyover. This
is grossly misplaced .

“Apart from that, his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi appointed hundreds
of aides and the state wage bill was N2.5b and this present
government was claiming to be paying the same amount even when the
state wage bill is presently N1.9 billion.

“With this, it was evident that the state was being swindled of over
N600 million monthly from salary payment in the last three and half
years.

“On daily basis, prostitutes and women of easy virtues were being
ferried into the state in helicopters to the Ekiti Government House, with Ekiti money, while the workers in the state are not sure of what to eat at night.

“Our workers have now realised that APC was a better government and
they should be ready to show their strength in the coming election”.
