Ololade Adeyanju/

Reports from across the country suggested that the national power grid may have encountered a major problem late yesterday night.

Light went off simultaneously in most parts of the country around 11.30pm, according to several Twitter users.

Some of the cities where people reported outages include, Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Benin, Ibadan, Ogbomosho, Ife and Ikorodu.

Also some residents of Gombe, Osun, Yobe, Ondo, Ogun, Kwara, Delta, Taraba and Kogi also confirmed similar outages in most parts of the states.

Also most of those who commented said the outage was preceeded by voltage fluctuations.

Confirming the development on Twitter, Eko Electricity Distribution Plc said the grid collapsed twice between Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Similarly, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company tweeted about the system outage.

The Jos Electricity Distribution Plc also announced that all its franchise states were experiencing power failure.
