Manchester United are regularly checking on the availability of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann as Jose Mourinho looks to add to his star-studded squad.
United are also closing in on the signing of £38million Victor Lindelof from Benfica as they further strengthen their defensive options.
Despite Atletico’s disappointing season, the 25-year-old France forward has continued to excel, scoring nine goals and contributing six assists in all competitions.
It comes after he scored six goals in seven matches to help France reach the final of the European Championship over the summer, earning him the Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament accolades.
MailOnline reports that United are monitoring Griezmann’s availability ahead of a possible move next summer, which would see him link up with his close friend and compatriot Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.
Any deal is expected to cost United in excess of £60million.
They would face competition from big-spending Paris Saint-Germain, but United would be confident of securing their man.
United will hope to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season, something that will only increase their appeal to Griezmann.
The move would also please Griezmann’s brother, Theo, who is a United fan and regularly tweets about them.
Lindelof, who plays for the Swedish national team, waited patiently for his elevation into the Benfica first team last season before seizing his chance with a succession of composed performances in the Portuguese league and the Champions League.
This earned him international recognition with Sweden and his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic is among the many admirers of the 22-year-old.
