A 48-year-old man, simply identified as Mr. Okafor, was stabbed to death early this morning by a female companion in his home at Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, Lagos.

According to the Lagos State police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, officers have identified the suspect, Joy Kelvin, as a prostitute, and she is in police custody.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident was reported to the llasan Police Division at around 7:20 a.m. by a friend of the deceased.

According to the police incident report, the victim was stabbed at approximately 5:32 a.m. after an overnight encounter with the suspect. The friend stated that he received a distressing call informing him of the attack on Mr. Okafor. The victim was immediately rushed to General Hospital, Marina, where he was pronounced dead by the medical team on duty.

Hundeyin stated: “Police detectives swiftly visited the scene of the crime, taking photographs and securing evidence. The body of the deceased has been transported to the morgue at General Hospital, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy.”

NewsmakersNG also learnt that the authorities are working to contact the family of the deceased, while further investigations into the murder are ongoing.

Hundeyin added that the suspect would remain in police custody, and formal charges are expected to follow pending the outcome of the investigation.
