A man has taken to Tweeter to protest the assault on his daughter by a Nigerian soldier in Abuja.

Terson Akula’s post says, “Today a soldier at the Mogadishu barracks Abuja molested and beat my dota at Nyanya market just because he could. I seek justice for Helen Ngodoo Akula.

Following various reactions to the post, one Stephanie Hegarty wrote: “This is utterly DEPRESSING, not just that this woman was attacked but the hordes of men replying that it was “probably her fault” – that it’s OK FOR A WOMAN TO BE HIT IN THE FACE because she “probably” (with no evidence) showed disrespect to a soldier. How?????.”

Another post by one Mngusuul Uji urged the victim to dial 193 and report to the human rights desk numbers of the Nigeria Army’s Department of Civil-Military Affairs, which include 08150134303, and WhatsApp line 08161507644 or visit www.civilmilitaryaffairs.com.ng.

He assured that there would be a response.
