A man has told the police in Abia State why he killed a debtor who owed him N1200.
Joshua Anyanwoke told the police, when he surrendered himself, that he cut the victim’s neck with machete because the man refused to pay a debt of N1200.
Police identified the victim as one Paul Ezinwa who hails from the same village as Anyanwoke.
Anyanwoke was among several suspected criminals paraded today by the Abia State commissioner of police (CP) Adeleye Oyebade.
He told reporters that on May 19, “at about 0700hours, one Joshua Anyanwoke of Ozatta Village in Ukwa West L.G.A, in Abia State, came to report himself that he went with machete to the house of one Paul Ezinwa of same village and demanded the sum of N1, 200 he owed him, but he refused to give him. That as a result of the refusal, he gave the victim a machete cut on the neck and he bled to death while being taken to the hospital. Suspect was arrested, scene of crime visited by detectives attached to Obehie Division while the corpse was deposited in the Mortuary for autopsy”.
