Makinde Reshuffles Cabinet, Removes Women Affairs Commissioner, Reinstates Former Appointee

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has removed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun, from office in a fresh shake-up of his administration.

The governor announced the decision on Wednesday, immediately appointing Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni to take over the ministry with immediate effect.

The development marks Sanni’s return to a ministry she previously headed during Makinde’s first term in office.

She served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion between 2019 and 2023 before being reassigned after the governor’s re-election.

Following the inauguration of the current administration in 2023, Sanni was moved to the Ministry of Special Duties.

She was later redeployed to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives before her latest return to the Women Affairs Ministry.

In a statement announcing the changes, Governor Makinde expressed appreciation to Balogun for her service to the state, commending her contributions to governance and wishing her success in her future endeavours.

No reason was given for Balogun’s removal.

The latest change comes as Makinde continues to adjust the composition of his cabinet.

The redeployment of Sanni takes immediate effect.
