Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has promised to announce his cabinet for his second term of office in the next six to eight weeks.
The governor disclosed this in the 64th issue of his twice-a-month newsletter, entitled: ‘It’s Time to Adopt the Omituntun 2.0 Lifestyle,’ published yesterday.
The governor stated, “I have already started making major appointments of the individuals that I believe will help us in achieving our 2.0 goals. I know the importance of having a cabinet in place so we can all work as a team to deliver more prosperity to our people. So, in the next 6-8 weeks, we will have the cabinet in place.”
He also reiterated his determination to sanitise the operations of motor parks and markets through sensitisation and strict enforcement of the laws of the state.
“As promised during my inaugural address, we have already started working towards achieving our vision for our dear state. You may have noticed some of the actions we are taking to sanitise our parks, markets and medians. We shall continue to use a combination of sensitisation and enforcement to ensure that our people upgrade to the Omituntun 2.0 lifestyle,” he wrote in the newsletter.
Other issues the governor touched on include his plans to establish the Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OMASED), which will be responsible for creating an enabling environment for the sustainable development of the state.
Makinde also disclosed plans by two major investors to establish multi-million dollar businesses in Ibadan, the state capital, within the next 12 months
“I look forward to establishing the Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OMASED). This agency will play a key role in ensuring that we have the environment that we need to install sustainable development in Oyo State. As I said in that address, OMASED will create a framework for enforcing all street trading, waste management and traffic laws. I once again ask for your support as we implement these policies.
“Our policies and programmes to make the business environment conducive continue to yield results. Just yesterday, I received another investor, Africorp Consortium, the parent company of Mouka Foam Ltd. They are establishing a multi-million dollar factory in Ibadan. Their visit came days after another company in Ibadan, Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Ltd, committed to expanding their business with an additional $30 million by 2024,” the newsletter further reads in part.
