A magistrate, Richard Bassey, collapsed today at the gate of Cross River State Governor’s office in Calabar on second day of the magistrates’ protest over unpaid 24 months salaries.
He was, however, immediately revived by his colleagues who later took him to a hospital.
Unlike yesterday, the magistrates were in their full regalia with various placards today.
Speaking on behalf of the magistrates, Solomon Abuo, said no government official had addressed them since they began the protest.
“As I speak we are still working. We will continue to protest until we are paid. This is our last resort,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, no government official had attended to the magistrates.
The state Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu, drove past the protesting magistrates without stopping to attend to them.
