The French leader, Emmanuel Macron and Croatia President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović shared a ‘French Kiss’ today at the end of a thrilling World Cup final won by France at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

France beat Croatia 4-2 to lift the World Cup for the second time. The first time was on home soil in 1998.

France will also go home with $38million while Croatia gets $28million.

NewsmakersNG reports that Croatia scored an own goal and conceded a penalty to put France in the lead at halftime.

Mario Mandzokic’s defensive header in the 8th minute went into his sides’ net, but his teammate, Ivan Peristic soon levelled up with a powerful kick that sent the ball into France’s goalpost.

France again shot into the lead in the 38th minute, when the Croatia side conceded a penalty.

Paul Pogba increased the tally to 3 for France in the 59th minute, and a 4th goal was added by Kylian Mbappe in the 65th minute.

Croatia cut France’s lead to 4-2 in the 69th minute when Mandzokic redeemed his earlier error by scoring the second goal for his side when the French goalie, Hugo Lloris, let down his guard.

France’s player, Kylian Mbappe won the tournament’s Young Player Award; Croatia’s Luka Modric was the Golden Ball Winner, Eden Hazard of Belgium got the Silver Ball and Harry Kane of England won the Golden Boot.
