The tide has turned for a 36-year-old ex-banker who has been unmasked as a kidnap kingpin after showing much influence, wealth, and power on social media.
John Ikechukwu Lyon aka Lion or IK-Kpai-kpai was on his knees crying and begging for mercy in the police net after he was reportedly captured in Abuja.
The scene was captured in a video trending on social media alongside other videos of his escapades shared by his followers.
The suspected kidnapper, a former staff of Sterling Bank admitted in the video that he had committed the crime twice.
Born on December 22, 1986, the suspect was operating under the business name Lyon Interior Hub as a cover-up for his kidnapping activities, says a report that also described him as a graduate of the University of Calabar and a lavish spender who flaunted money on social media and urge his followers to hustle.
According to the police, Lyon was recently involved in the kidnap of one Danjuma, a banker. They demanded over N50 million ransom.
Lyon, who is based in Abuja, allegedly operated in Bayelsa State.
He was traced to Abuja from Bayelsa by detectives from the Bayelsa State Police Command.
