Nigerian writer, Oyinkan Braithwaite and the Brazilian music maker and writer, Matinho da Villa

A literary event holding in Pelourinho, Brazil between August 7 and 10, 2019, will celebrate a Nigerian novelist Oyinkan Braithwaite, the Author of the award-winning novel ‘My Sister, the Serial Killer’. The Afro-Brazilian music maker and writer, Martinho da Vila, Brazilian Poet and academician Prof. Castro Alves among several other notable writers including the Peruvian essayist and noble prize winner, Mario Vargas are also billed to grace the occasion.

Filipelo, the international festival of literature, will for the first time parade a Nigerian writer among several other internationally respected writers expected to grace the occasion.

The event expected to run for three days will display the artistic renderings, paintings and illustrations of a Nigerian carnival artist, Adeyinka Olaiya, a Brazilian sculptor, Maimo Mattos, and Angolan carnival artist, Cristina Mariano.

Jorge Amado Foundation (Fundaçao Jorge Amado) promotes several annual literary programs with the presence of several internationally known figures.
