After 32 nations played 64 matches at eight venues across five cities in 29 days, Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, defeated France to lift the 2022 World Cup today in Qatar.
Argentina started the 2022 World Cup campaign on a shaky ground with a 2-1 defeat by Saudi Arabia, but bounced back and made it to the final, where the game ended 3-3 with France after extra time, leading to penalties in which the Latin-American country won 4-2.
French star player Kylian Mbape won the Golden Boot of the tournament, and Argentine Captain Lionel Messi won the Adidas Golden Ball Award as the best player of the tournament.
The Young Player award was picked by Enzo Fernandez of Argentina, and the Golden Gloves was won by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
