A lion has killed a 35-year-old handler, Babaji Daule, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Zoological Garden in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to reports, the incident occurred yesterday when Daule, from Bauchi State, was mauled after failing to lock the lion’s enclosure before feeding the animal.
This incident comes just months after a similar tragedy at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where a lion killed its handler.
Security personnel were forced to shoot the lion in a bid to free Daule from its grip, but the handler had already sustained severe injuries. His body was later taken to the mortuary.
In February, a veterinary technologist at OAU, Olabode Olawuyi, lost his life under similar circumstances, prompting concerns about the safety protocols for handling dangerous animals in zoological facilities.

This is really pathetic ,may his gentle soul rest in peace 🕊️🕊️. This is the second time a lion will kill those taking care of them.I think something should be done about it. They might be throwing the foods to the animals instead of going inside to feed them.
