Two women have been killed by lightning during rainfall in the FESTAC area of Lagos.

Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post he shared on his X handle – @benHundeyin, on Saturday.

According to Hundeyin, the incident happened during a downpour on Friday.

“Somewhere on First Avenue, FESTAC, two women remained indoors during the downpour yesterday.

“Lightning struck, electrocuting them instantly and causing a fire outbreak,” he said.

He added that the victims lived in a shanty built under high-voltage wires. They were identified only as residents of the area.

The spokesman sympathized with the deceased and prayed that their souls should rest in peace.
