Former Oyo State military governor and Liberian war hero, Major General Adetunji Idowu Olurin (OFR) died Sunday at 73.
Reports say he succumbed to prostate cancer.
Born on December 3, 1944, in Ilaro, Ogun State, Olurin was the Military Governor of Oyo State in 1985 and later Administrator of Ekiti State during the tenure of President Olusegun Obasanjo who declared a state of emergency in the state.
He was a celebrated Commander of ECOMOG Peace Keeping Force when he served from 1992 to 1993 during the First Liberian Civil War.
He later joined politics, contested the gubernatorial election in Ogun State, and he lost.
