Media and communications icon, culture promoter, and Ibadan traditional high chief, Oloye ’Lekan Alabi, is set to launch a new book, Media, Governance & Culture, on October 1, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The festschrift, compiled in honour of Alabi’s 75th birthday, which comes up on October 27, 2025, is dedicated to the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, FNSE, to commemorate the commencement of his reign.
The volume, edited by Prof. John Ahire Sambe with contributions from eminent personalities, features a foreword by veteran broadcaster, Chief Julie Coker and a prologue by Tunde Rahman, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Special Duties to President Bola Tinubu.
The book reflects Alabi’s lifelong commitment to media excellence, governance values, and cultural heritage.
Earlier in the week, Alabi, who is the Abese Olubadan-designate, paid a courtesy visit to the Bodija residence of the Olubadan-designate. He personally delivered a letter reminding the palace of the upcoming launch, along with a copy of the book.
He was warmly received on behalf of Oba Ladoja by Chief Adeola Oloko, the monarch’s media adviser.
Speaking ahead of the event, Alabi described the book launch as a double celebration of his milestone birthday and the ascension of the new Olubadan.
“God willing, on October 1st, my festschrift will be launched and dedicated to our Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. All hail our King. Long live the King,” he declared.
The October 1 gathering in Ibadan is expected to attract a distinguished array of scholars, cultural leaders, traditional rulers, media professionals, and political dignitaries.
