Legendary Nigerian Singer Onyeka Onwenu Dies at 72

…Family Yet to Confirm

Lagos, Nigeria – Legendary Nigerian singer and actress Onyeka Onwenu has reportedly passed away at the age of 72.

Reports say the elegant stallion died last night at Reddington Hospital in Lagos after collapsing at the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli.

According to reports, an eyewitness at the party confirmed the development.

“It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she collapsed. She was taken to Reddington Hospital but unfortunately did not make it,” the eyewitness said.

The deceased’s family is yet to officially announce her death. Onyeka Onwenu will be remembered for her iconic music albums such as ‘In The Morning Light’ and ‘Dancing In The Sun’. She also starred in notable films like ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ and ‘Lionheart’, among others.
