The Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) has moved to allay growing concerns among students of the Department of English over outstanding and unuploaded examination results that could affect their academic progression and final-year clearance.
In a statement addressing the controversy, the Students’ Union said it had received complaints from affected students and immediately opened discussions with the university management to secure a resolution.
According to LASUSU, its President, Comrade APK, personally engaged the management following concerns that the yet-to-be-uploaded results could create difficulties for students seeking to complete their final-year clearance and other academic requirements.
The union said extensive consultations with the university authorities had produced assurances that the cases of affected students would be individually reviewed and resolved between Monday and Tuesday.
“Following extensive consultations with the University Management, the Students’ Union has been assured that affected students will have their cases thoroughly reviewed and resolved between Monday and Tuesday,” the statement said.
LASUSU assured the students that it would remain actively involved in the process and continue to engage the university authorities until the outstanding issues are addressed.
The union also pledged to provide students with verified information as developments unfold, stressing that protecting students’ academic interests and welfare remains a priority.
It urged those affected by the delayed results to remain calm and allow the university management sufficient time to complete the ongoing review.
The development comes amid anxiety among some English Department students over the potential impact of outstanding results on their ability to conclude clearance procedures and other requirements associated with completing their programmes.
LASUSU, however, expressed confidence that the intervention by the university management would bring a prompt resolution to the concerns.
