The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd), today led a delegation of the commission on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
During the visit, the LASIEC delegation condoled with the police boss over the death of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and congratulated him on his appointment as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State. The commission also commended the command for its professionalism and proactive role in securing previous elections across the state.

Justice Okikiolu-Ighile informed the police commissioner of the forthcoming councillorship by-elections scheduled for June 23, 2026, in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area (Ward C), Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (Ward H), and Somolu Local Government Area (Ward F), and requested continued collaboration to guarantee peaceful, free and credible polls.
Responding, CP Fatai thanked the delegation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of strong institutional partnership. He assured LASIEC of adequate security deployment before, during and after the elections, reaffirming the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful electoral process in all affected areas.
The meeting underscored the growing cooperation between electoral and security agencies in safeguarding democracy and public confidence in the electoral process in Lagos State.
