The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has alerted residents to an accident involving a petrol tanker at Ahmadiyya bus stop, along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway this morning.
The agency in a statement by its Director General, Oke Osanyintolu, urges residents to steer clear of the overturned tanker, which is currently spilling its content on the road.
The statement titled, ‘Alert: Overturned Tanker Opposite Runsewe Estate, Ahmadiyya Bus Stop, Abeokuta Expressway’, was shared via @lasemasocial.
It reads, “A fully loaded petrol tanker is discharging its contents along Bajomo Street. The agency has activated its emergency response plan.
“Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution and refrain from any activities involving naked flame.
“Furthermore, residents are to allow our first responders to work without being harassed and molested while potential miscreants are urged to avoid attempts to scoop up petrol which has been known to cause secondary incidents leading to loss of life.
“We seek the cooperation of all Lagosians to carry out our duties efficiently, effectively and SAFELY. Updates to follow.
