The Lagos State Government has bowed to public pressure by reducing the Land Use Charge.
NewsmakersNG learned the decision was taken at the meeting of the State Executive Council chaired by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
The state government had recently announced an increase of 400% in the Land Use Charge payable by home owners in the state.
But the state government said today it had reduced the charges by 50 percent.
The government also said it had reduced charges for owner-occupier with third party, including industries and manufacturing concerns by 25 percent
It equally waived penalty for late payments across board, approved tax credits for land use charges already paid and introduced an Installment Payment System.
Stakeholders led by the Nigeria Bar Association and civil rights groups had kicked against the increment of the land use charge and vowed to resist it by every possible means.
