Lagos State yesterday recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases out of the 221 announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The development is coming on the heels of the disclosure by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, that the state had passed the peak of the pandemic and already flattening the curve.
Abayomi however warned of the need for residents to remain vigilant and continue to take necessary precautions to prevent a resurgence of the disease.
Figures released by the NCDC shows that three COVID-19 related fatalities were also recorded in the country yesterday.
According to the agency, a total of 53,021 cases have been confirmed in the country, out of which 40,281 people have been discharged and 1,010 deaths have been recorded.
Plateau State had the highest number of new infections with 60, followed by the federal capital territory and Kaduna State with 33 and 26 cases respectively.
