Soldiers and operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) have been drafted to the Ajegunle/Ajeromi council area of Lagos as politicians await the release of the National Assembly election result three days after it was conducted.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the SARS operatives were deployed to control the riotous party supporters and checkmate a likely breakdown of law and order during the counting and the announcement of the House of Representatives results.

The keenly contested election was between Barrister Rita Orji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Hon. Kehinde Taiwo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some of the supporters expressed fears that electoral officers were plotting to rig the election.

No fewer than 15 police patrol vehicles were stationed at the scene, along with officers from MOPOL 49 and MOPOL 63.

An Armoured Personnel Carrier marked SWAT 024 and a contingent of the Rapid Response Squad were on the ground.
