Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has described as a significant vote of confidence the endorsement from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, today.
In a statement shared on his social media page, Hamzat expressed appreciation for the governor’s support, framing it as a reflection of their long-standing partnership in the administration of Lagos State.
“Today, I am honoured by the endorsement of my Governor, my brother and my friend, HE Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. His trust means a great deal to me. We’ve worked side by side in the service of Lagos State, and I don’t take this vote of confidence lightly,” he said.
He added that he remains committed to consolidating the gains of the current administration, stressing continuity, discipline and service delivery as guiding principles.
“I remain committed to building on the progress we’ve made together, and look forward to serving Lagosians with integrity, focus and a clear sense of purpose,” Hamzat stated.
The development is already being interpreted in political circles as a signal of continuity within the current leadership arrangement.
Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat have worked closely since 2019, overseeing major infrastructure projects, urban renewal programmes and governance reforms across Lagos State.
As attention gradually turns towards the 2027 political cycle, the latest development is expected to intensify discussions around succession dynamics in Lagos State even as formal declarations remain absent.
