The Lagos State Police Command has organised a sensitisation programme on insurance and welfare schemes for its officers as part of ongoing efforts by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen the welfare and financial security of personnel.
The lecture, held at the Command headquarters, was delivered by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ameh Lydia of the Force Insurance Section, who reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General and the Force Insurance Section to improving the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking during the session, ACP Lydia educated officers on the structure and responsibilities of the Force Insurance Section and explained the range of insurance and welfare packages available to police personnel.
She highlighted key schemes, including the Group Life Assurance Scheme, Nigeria Police Welfare Insurance Scheme, Group Personal Accident Scheme, IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme, and the newly introduced Voluntary Contributions Scheme, designed to provide officers with an additional platform to strengthen their financial wellbeing.
The insurance expert also informed officers about the ongoing sale of shares in the Nigeria Police Force Insurance Company, urging interested personnel to seize the opportunity to invest in the company.
Commending the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the Inspector-General of Police for placing the welfare of personnel high on the Force’s agenda.
He also lauded the Force Insurance Section for organising the sensitisation programme, describing it as a timely intervention that would help officers better understand and maximise the benefits available to them.
The Commissioner urged officers to take full advantage of the various insurance and welfare schemes, stressing that improved welfare remains a critical factor in boosting morale, enhancing productivity, and ensuring more effective service delivery.
The sensitisation programme forms part of the Nigeria Police Force’s broader commitment to improving the welfare, financial security and overall wellbeing of its personnel, while promoting a more motivated and efficient workforce.
