The Lagos State Police Command has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, for their unwavering support in maintaining peace and security across the state.

Speaking at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olanrewaju Ishola, highlighted their contributions to ensuring a crime-free Yuletide season and enabling effective law enforcement.

During the event, CP Ishola paraded a variety of suspected criminals involved in offenses ranging from armed robbery and kidnapping to traffic violations and child abuse. The police also displayed a haul of recovered arms and ammunition, signaling a determined crackdown on crime.

Among the suspects were members of a gang responsible for the gruesome murder of Uber drivers, with one victim’s body exhumed after being buried by his killers. The Commissioner detailed how the suspects lured drivers into traps, killed them, and attempted to sell their vehicles before being apprehended. The gang leader was identified as a 19-year-old boy sent back home by his father in the United States of America.

Another notable case involved the arrest of a notorious armed robbery syndicate led by one Fatai Lawal, alias “Bullet,” who terrorized commuters along Badagry Road. Additionally, police rescued 16 young women who had been lured to Lagos with false promises but ended up in the hands of kidnappers.

Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, locally made pistols, and ammunition, some of which were stolen during the 2020 EndSARS crisis. Over 2,200 motorcycles and 127 vehicles were also impounded for various traffic offenses, as the police reinforced their commitment to road safety.

CP Ishola announced plans to deploy drones for enhanced surveillance across Lagos, a move aimed at boosting public safety. He also urged Uber drivers to take precautions, such as limiting the number of passengers they carry and sitting them in the front seat, to reduce the risk of attacks.

The Commissioner further warned young women against accepting financial or travel offers from strangers, citing recent cases where such baits led to kidnappings. He also condemned the rising cases of cult-related violence and child abuse, reiterating the police’s resolve to prosecute offenders.

He emphasized the need for public vigilance and cooperation, urging citizens to report suspicious activities promptly.

CP Ishola reassured residents that all suspects would face justice, as the police remain committed to maintaining law and order.
