Lagos Police Calm Fears Over School Attack Threat, Boost Security Across State

The Lagos State Police Command has allayed fears among residents following reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, warning of a planned attack and abduction of schoolchildren by suspected bandits.

The Command on Sunday assured parents, guardians, school authorities and residents that there is currently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack anywhere in Lagos State.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid panic, stressing that all security concerns are being treated with utmost seriousness.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation and directed the implementation of enhanced security measures across the affected area and other strategic locations within the state.

The Command disclosed that police personnel, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have been deployed to strengthen security around schools, critical infrastructure and communities as a precautionary measure.

“The Lagos State Police Command has seen reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, claiming that bandits intend to attack and abduct school children. The Command wishes to reassure parents, guardians, school authorities, and all residents that there is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State,” the statement said.

The police reiterated that Lagos remains secure and warned that any attempt by criminal elements to threaten public peace or create panic would be met with decisive action.

The Command stressed that it would not tolerate activities by bandits, kidnappers, miscreants or any other criminal groups seeking to undermine the safety and security of residents.

It also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities.

The police described security as a collective responsibility, noting that effective policing depends on strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public.

Residents were urged to promptly report suspicious persons, objects, movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.

The Command assured Lagosians that all necessary measures were being taken to safeguard lives and property, adding that all hands remain on deck to ensure the continued safety, security and well-being of residents across the state.
