The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up its security preparedness with a renewed commitment to proactive policing and the donation of 400 pieces of protective equipment by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, today convened a strategic security meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Commanders of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Tactical Commanders across the state, where he charged senior officers to intensify intelligence-driven policing and remain vigilant in tackling emerging security threats.
At the meeting, held to review the security situation in Lagos, the police chief emphasized the need for sustained intelligence gathering, effective supervision of personnel, and prompt responses to criminal activities within various Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
Fatai urged commanders to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure that the same culture of discipline and dedication is reflected among officers under their command.
In a major boost to the Command’s operational capacity, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund donated 200 bulletproof helmets and 200 bulletproof vests to support police personnel deployed for frontline security operations across the state.
The protective gear was formally presented to the Commissioner of Police by the Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, who reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to equipping security agencies with the resources needed to protect lives and property effectively.
Ogunsan said the donation was part of the Trust Fund’s ongoing support for security institutions working to maintain peace and public safety in Lagos.
Receiving the equipment, Fatai expressed gratitude to the LSSTF for its sustained partnership with the police, describing the donation as a significant contribution to the welfare, safety, and operational effectiveness of officers.
According to him, the bulletproof helmets and vests will not only improve officers’ protection during critical assignments but also boost morale among personnel engaged in frontline policing duties.
The police commissioner also commended residents of Lagos State for their continued cooperation and support in the fight against crime, noting that information provided by members of the public has played a vital role in the Command’s successes.
He appealed for stronger collaboration between the police and residents as the Command intensifies efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and guarantee the safety of residents and visitors.
Fatai further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines.
