Motorists Risk Fines as Enforcement of Third Party Insurance Kicks Off

The Lagos State Police Command has begun a strict enforcement of the mandatory Third Party Motor Vehicle Insurance policy, in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

The operation, which commenced on February 1, 2025, aims to ensure all vehicle owners in the state adhere to insurance regulations for the safety of road users.
Motorists without valid Third Party Insurance are urged to obtain coverage immediately, as failure to comply will attract penalties, fines, or both.

The police warn that defaulters will face consequences as they intensify efforts to rid the roads of uninsured vehicles.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Olanrewaju Ishola, has instructed officers to carry out the enforcement professionally and courteously, while maintaining firmness.

He reassured the public that no form of misconduct from officers will be tolerated during the exercise.

The Lagos State Police Command urges citizens to cooperate, emphasizing that this initiative benefits all road users by ensuring financial protection in case of accidents.

Residents are advised to stay informed and ensure compliance to avoid facing the full force of the law.
