The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its offensive against criminal elements with the arrest of 147 suspects during a coordinated raid on notorious criminal hideouts across the state under its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, targeted identified black spots, including Boolar and Super Ile-Epo, as part of the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and make Lagos safer for residents.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operation commenced at about 5:30 a.m. following credible intelligence. It involved a joint team of operatives drawn from various formations of the Lagos State Police Command.
The police said the coordinated raid was specifically designed to flush out hoodlums and other criminal elements allegedly terrorising the affected communities.
During the operation, officers arrested 147 suspects and recovered a cache of items believed to have been used in criminal activities. The exhibits include 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
All the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine their individual roles in criminal activities. The Command said those found culpable would be charged to court.
Commending the operatives for what he described as their professionalism, courage and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain Operation KO S’AYE III across the state.
He stressed that the initiative would continue to target criminal hideouts with the aim of denying criminals any safe haven and strengthening public safety throughout Lagos.
The police commissioner also appealed to residents to support the Command by providing timely and credible intelligence that would aid in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and preventing crime.
He assured Lagos residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing and proactive security operations.
The Command urged members of the public to report emergencies or share useful information through its designated emergency lines to further enhance security across the state.
