Adjustments made by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on the Land Use Charge law in Lagos were today condemned and rejected by members of the Ikeja Branch of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).
Ambode had recently announced an increase of 400 per cent in the Land Use Charge payable by home owners in the state.
But the state government later buckled under pressure and reduced the charges by 50 percent.
The government also said it had reduced charges for owner-occupier with third party, including industries and manufacturing concerns by 25 percent
It equally waived penalty for late payments across board, approved tax credits for land use charges already paid and introduced an Installment Payment System.
All these were rejected by the NBA arm known as Tiger Branch. Its Chairman, Mr Adesina Ogunlana, said that the body would hold a press conference on Wednesday to address the matter.
