The Lagos State Police Command and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have moved to deepen collaboration aimed at strengthening the safety and security of Corps Members serving across the state.
The renewed commitment followed a familiarisation visit by the Lagos State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Christiana Salmwang, to the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
Salmwang was accompanied by members of her management team and Corps Members during the visit, which focused on strengthening the existing relationship between the two institutions and improving security cooperation.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to reinforce measures designed to protect young Nigerians deployed to different parts of Lagos for the mandatory national service programme.
Receiving the delegation, Fatai expressed appreciation to the NYSC coordinator and her team for the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining a robust partnership with the scheme.
The police commissioner said the Command would continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of Corps Members and work with NYSC officials to provide a secure environment for them to carry out their national assignments.
The engagement underscores the importance of sustained cooperation between security agencies and the NYSC, particularly as Corps Members are deployed to schools, government institutions, private organisations and communities across Lagos.
