Lagos CP Combs Suspected Kidnappers Den, Black Spots in Night Operations

Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adegoke Fayoade, is leading an onslaught across the city to flush out men of the underworld.

Following one of the special operations, NewsmakersNG saw how the commissioner of police was up in arms with organized crimes. He was also on the lookout for laxity at police stations during his night patrols and unscheduled working visits to Divisions and Area Commands in the state for on-the-spot duty assessment.

“It will not be business as usual for kidnappers, robbers, and cultists in the state,” Fayoade told NewsmakersNG.

CP Fayode (in mufti) leads officers in all night patrol of black spots in Lagos.

While combing the city’s seedy underworld from 12:45 am to 6.30 am, Fayoade branched at Area H Command headquarters en route from Ogudu Division to Alapere Divisional headquarters, where he met with the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other officers on duty during the unannounced night visitation. He placed the officers on red alert, insisting on zero tolerance for criminal activities in the state.

Fayoade, who also visited Owode Onirin Division and other divisions within the Ikorodu axis down to Ijede, identified some dark spots where criminal activities could easily thrive.

In a show of bravado, the police commissioner stormed some flashpoints that kidnappers have reportedly used as escape routes in Ijede, Oloja, Alagemo, Igbiafa creeks, and other hideouts in the areas.

Fayoade was accompanied by the head of the vigilante group, JTF, one Mr. Adetela, to some black spots in the areas.

Deployed to the state in December 2023, Fayoade has received the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has donated 300 operational vehicles to the command and empowered other security agencies in the state.

While presenting the vehicles Sanwo-Olu said, “Today, we pledge to pursue policies fostering the well-being of all Lagosians and building a secure and inclusive community.

“To address critical needs, the state government, in collaboration with the local governments, needs to indeed look for a clear strategy to refit all the aging vehicles that we have in the Lagos State Police Command, the RRS, and all other support agencies.

“So, I will ensure that between us and the local governments, in the course of early next year, we will donate 300 brand new vehicles to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.”
