In a decisive move to re-establish order at the Lagos Country Club, the court-endorsed Caretaker Committee has reaffirmed its authority and taken steps to address recent leadership disputes.
Chief Kayode Moradeyo, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, announced the replacement of Mr. Adetayo Adegboye as Secretary, appointing Mr. Kola Olaitan to the position.
This decision follows a series of disruptions linked to Mr. Adegboye, who allegedly continued issuing messages and directives to club members and staff without the committee’s authorization.
The club’s internal discord began after five members of the legitimate Caretaker Committee reportedly declared the committee “illegal” and joined an alternate, unapproved body. This unauthorized group, formed following an illegal extraordinary general meeting (EGM) last month, has since been disbanded by the Federal High Court, which ordered its members to cease operations and refrain from assuming administrative duties.
Chief Moradeyo emphasized the Caretaker Committee’s commitment to restoring peace at the club and expressed a willingness to reintegrate the dissenting five members under careful conditions. However, he clarified that actions or messages from Mr. Adegboye as “Secretary” should be disregarded, as he no longer holds that office.
Members and staff are encouraged to report any communications from Mr. Adegboye to the Caretaker Committee to prevent further disruptions.
Chief Moradeyo reiterated the committee’s dedication to justice, transparency, and upholding the rights of all members, aiming to return the club to stability swiftly.
“Long live the Lagos Country Club, where good things happen,” Chief Moradeyo concluded in his statement.
