Chamberlain Squash Open Debuts on Sunday

Racket Sports lovers often say, “There are two kinds of people in this world, and being a squash player is better than both of them.”

If you’re in doubt, the doors of opportunity to see things for yourself are opening on Sunday as the Chamberlain Squash Open (CSO) debuts at the Lagos Country Club, in the state capital – Ikeja.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Sport, Nigeria Squash Federation, and the Professional Squash Players Association (PSPAN), according to the organisers, the tournament starting on August 20 will feature over 85 international and national players. It will end on August 26.

Newsmakers learnt that two Britons, 23-year old Tom Ford and 24-year-old Mark Broekman have registered for the tournament.

Other participants expected include Kelvin Ndlovu from Zambia and the highest ranking male and female Nigerian players – Babatunde Ajagbe and Yemisi Olatunji.

The competition is seeking to promote and develop the sport amongst young people and bring up a new generation of players that will represent the country at the National and International stage and also get more Nigerian players on the PSA world rankings.
