The Lagos police command said it has commenced investigation into yesterday’s abduction of an IT staff with WEMA Bank by yet-to-be-identified policemen.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, disclosed this to members of the Social Intervention Advocacy Foundation (SIAF), after they raised the alarm about the incident.

Elkana reportedly stated: “The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the Engineer Ugo.

“Modalities are set to identify the team responsible. We appreciate all citizens who showed their support for the cause of Justice.

“Together we will subdue those few Nigerians who choose the wrong path of history, whether in Police uniform or under whatever guises.”

The victim, identified simply as Ugo, who worked overnight, was reportedly abducted by the policemen while on his way back home in the early hours of yesterday, alongside others whose identities had not been ascertained.

They subsequently switched off his phone so that no one could contact him.

The development however prompted a search of the detention facilities of all police special squads in Lagos, by SIAF members, led Segun Awosayan, promoter of the END SARS Campaign, and backed by policemen from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

The facilities checked include, the cells of the Special Anti Cultism Squad (SACS), Gbagada; State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Intelligence Response Team (IRT); Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Adeniji and the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Task Force, Oshodi, but neither Ugo or any of the other victims were not found in any.

NewsmakersNG learnt that in panic, the rogue policemen eventually dropped off Ugo and the others at Iyana Oworo and fled.
