Former President, National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers and Deputy National Campaign Manager, Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Isaac Balami, has emerged favourite to replace Doyin Okupe as Director General of the Labour Party Campaign Council.

A source within the Labour Party hierarchy confided in NewsmakersNG tonight that Okupe is under pressure to resign from his position following his conviction by an Abuja High Court today for money laundering.

An adamant Okupe tweeted a message about one hour ago, which suggested his preparedness to fight the conviction.

Okupe’s tweet reads, “God is not man. The enemies have tried in so many ways but kept on failing. Victory is of God.”

But the source insisted that Okupe would soon announce his voluntary resignation.

“He (Balami) is the front runner for the office of DG. As we speak, only Peter Obi’s concurrence is what is being awaited. And Okupe’s acceptance to step aside. Okupe is expected to resign any moment from now,” the source disclosed.

Balami, an entrepreneur and youth leader, recently stepped down as the CEO of 7Star Global, a group of companies that comprise, 7Star Global Hangar, 7Star Global Airlines, 7Star Apparels and Buy7Star.
