The Labour Party has reaffirmed Nollywood actor, Olumide Oworu, as its candidate for the Lagos House of Assembly Surulere 1 State Constituency in the 2023 general elections.
The clarification, contained in a statement by the Lagos State Legal Adviser of the party, Abass Ibrahim, followed reports in some quarters that the actor’s name is not the one listed on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The statement is titled, ‘To Whom it May Concern: Olumide Oworu was Our HoA candidate for Surulere 1.’
It reads, “The Labour Party Lagos State wishes to inform the general public and OBIdients that by a letter dated 27th October 2022 to INEC, Olumide Oworu’s name along with other HoA candidates of LP who emerged through our Substitution Primary was forwarded to INEC for upload but same was neglected.
“This is to dispel any rumour out there portraying any other person as our candidate for HoA Surulere 1.”
