Former Kano State Governor and Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied claims circulating on social media alleging that he is mobilising support for a nationwide protest over Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
In a press statement, Kwankwaso described the viral message as false and misleading, stressing that he has not initiated, endorsed, or supported any plan capable of disrupting public order or threatening national stability.
He emphasised that neither he nor his political platform supports actions that could lead to violence, destruction of property, or breakdown of law and order.
He noted that responsible leadership requires commitment to peace and constructive engagement in addressing national challenges.
According to the statement, Kwankwaso reaffirmed his belief in democratic processes as the only legitimate avenue for expressing grievances and driving political change.
He maintained that the ballot box remains the most effective tool for citizens to demand accountability and influence governance outcomes.
He further expressed confidence that his party remains focused on the forthcoming elections, where it expects to secure victory through peaceful and democratic means rather than street protests or agitation.
The statement urged members of the public to disregard the circulating message in its entirety, warning against the spread of disinformation capable of heightening tension or undermining public trust.
Kwankwaso also called on citizens to be vigilant about fake news, urging that such narratives be ignored and not shared further.
