Bandits have reportedly invaded a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, today, and kidnapped the pastor, his wife, and several worshippers during a morning service.
The attackers reportedly stormed the church while the congregation was worshipping, causing panic as members scampered for safety. The pastor, popularly known as Orlando, was seized alongside his wife and others yet to be confirmed.
Witnesses who spoke to the Egbe Mekun Platform said the incident occurred shortly after the service commenced, leaving the new church community in shock.
The latest attack came barely 24 hours after a separate incident along the Isanlu, Makutu–Idofin corridor in Yagba East, where travellers were also targeted, heightening fears of rising insecurity in the area.
Efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Residents have called for urgent intervention to prevent further attacks and secure the release of the abducted worshippers.
