Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers this evening again struck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Details of the attack are still sketchy but yet-to-be-confirmed reports say some travellers were kidnapped while many others sustained gunshot injuries.

The incident reportedly took place around 6pm shortly after Foursquare Camp.

NewsmakersNG learnt that those kidnapped include the occupants of a Toyota Sienna travelling to Lagos.

An undergraduate law student of the University of Ibadan, who was among those that escaped being kidnapped, also shared her experience on Twitter.

This is coming about 24 hours after a similar attack was recorded along the same axis making it the second time gunmen would attack commuters on the nation’s busiest expressway in a little over 24 hours.

Gunmen dressed in military uniforms attacked commuters travelling on the same expressway yesterday.

The gunmen suspected to be kidnappers reportedly stormed the road from the bush before the Sagamu Interchange en route Lagos and started shooting at motorists in an 18-passenger inter-state bus.

According to one of the victims who craved anonymity, “We (passengers) were only lucky to escape the gunmen but many of us have been injured by the bullets and our bus has been badly damaged too.”

Six persons, including an Ex-UI Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Adigun Agbaje, were kidnapped by suspected Fulani bandits on the expressway last week.

They were later released after payment of ransom.
