Doctors at an undisclosed hospital in Delta are battling to revive a lawyer who went into a coma when she regained freedom after a week in the den of kidnappers where she was reportedly raped daily.
The lawyer, who was attached to a law firm for her National Youth Service Corps scheme was released with four other victims after payment of N12million ransom.
Amid a staccato of gunshots, the victims were kidnapped by bandits at Ehor area of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi-Abuja Road. They were traveling from Warri, Delta State to Sabongida Ora High Court in Edo State with their driver, when they were abducted.
The lady, who cannot be mentioned, was assisting senior solicitors in the conduct of legal matters as a youth corps member.
According to official records, there have been more than 400 cases of reported kidnappings in Southwest Nigeria in the past three years. Many victims lost their lives.
